Kopi Luwak (civet coffee)
is considered to be the most expensive coffee in the world, made famous by the movie "The Bucket List." The Asian Palm Civet is directly responsible for the unique cultivating process this little coffee bean goes through.
After being ingested the bean is passed through the digestive tract, intestines, and then excreted by the civet. The locals collect all these little beans where they are washed, sun dried, lightly roasted and brewed to yield a highly aromatic coffee! Kopi Luwak is harvested and produced mainly on the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali, and Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago.
